I hope you all are having a wonderful summer and not melting in these lovely record temperatures we are having. June was incredibly busy but also incredibly successful. Thank you so much to everyone who showed up either in the Twin Cities or Des Moines to see me at a pride festival. I was shocked by how many readers I got to meet. I was so busy that I didn’t get to show my appreciation as much as I normally do at conventions, but I hope you all know how much your support means to me.
I just want to share a few exciting achievements and anecdotes from June before I get into what July has in store.
- I sold my last copy of The Fantasy Book Club: Issue 1! All the copies that I bought with the proceeds from the Kickstarter are gone. That’s 100 copies sold! I ordered a new print run and already have them in hand but I truly wasn’t expecting to run out of them so fast.
- At Des Moines Pride a young person came to my both and chatted with me for a while. It’s was a nice interaction and they bought a set of my stickers and a copy of the book. What I wasn’t expecting was for them to come back the next day and hand me this:
- At Twin Cities Pride in the last 10 minutes of the final day someone came into my tent, looked at my banner for TFBC and murmured, “Oh wow, your the first person I’ve seen with merch for The Fantasy Book Club here.” I was really confused and thought maybe he was mixing my comic up with something else so I said “It would be weird if anyone else did since it’s my comic”. Turns out he was not mixing me up with something else and was a avid reader who had no idea I live in Minneapolis. It was the first time I’ve had something like that happen. He asked me questions about the characters, and even bought me last TFBC1 copy. I truly still haven’t recovered from the weird feeling of my work being recognized like that.
There are a lot more little things like that, but in general the past month while exhausting has been a huge boost to my confidence and motivation. So let’s talk about July!
Upcoming Events
I don’t actually have any appearances in July which is great. Gives me some recovery and drawing time. The next events I have will be Comic Con Nebraska followed by Flame Con in New York City! (Holy shit guys I’m going to New York?!?)

The Fantasy Book Club
Because I don’t have any appearances in July and no major client projects this means I will be putting the majority of my effort towards TFBC episodes (Plus working on scripts for Issue 8 and If They Were Monsters stuff) My goal is to release a minimum of 3 episodes this month but I’m really hoping to manage 4. I’ve already got one done and another sketched so I’m feeling pretty good about that goal.
Patreon Stream
To make up for missing these a lot I’m going to do two Patreon only streams this month. I’ll also have a lot of drawing to do and less product making so it works out well this month. You will be able to join the stream either here on Patreon or on Discord while I work on episodes, art prints, or maybe the monthly wallpaper.

Discord Moderators
Speaking of discord, while I wouldn’t say my server is crazy busy or anything, it’s is wonderfully active with amazing people. If you aren’t a part of it already you can join it here. While I do my best to keep an eye on things, I can’t participate as much as I would like and I would love to do more activities like game or movie nights and drawing activities. Unfortunately, trying to do all of that myself would spread me far too thin. So I’m in the market for a couple moderators.
What I’m looking for:
- 2 moderators over 18.
- Have a working knowledge of discord, but a huge plus if you have experience managing a server.
- Must be able to check the server regularly and moderate conversations to ensure people are following the rules. This will rarely entail more than staying up to date on conversations, and attending Patreon streams if possible.
- Interested in collaborating with Nae to organizing a social event/activity in the server. Exactly what this would be or how often depends on your interests and availability.
Compensation
- Patreon membership at the Lackey Tier for 1 year. If you are already a paid member you are welcome to cancel and use the gift membership instead.
- At the end of the year you will receive full color art commission from Nae (1-2 character maximum with simple background)
